After the birth of Varuna on March 25th, the Indian Ocean Marine Life Foundation is pleased to announce the birth of Myriam, daughter of Issa, still in the clan of Irene Gueule Tordue.
Myriam is a multicultural name of Arabic, Hebrew, Greek and Egyptian origin. Its meanings include “drop of the sea” and also “beloved”.
The Journal des Archipels team joins the Indian Ocean Marine Life Foundation in wishing long life to the little female who was unfortunately injured in the last few days by the propeller of a boat. If she remains healthy, she will carry the mark of this unfortunate accident for life.
One of the objectives of the Indian Ocean Marine Life Foundation is to protect the mammals in the Indian Ocean. We are of course very concerned about the increasing number of boats chasing dolphins and sperm whales in Mauritian waters…
