The hotel’s commitment to the fight against food waste and the circular economy has just been recognised with the award of “The PLEDGE on Food Waste” certification! The main restaurant of the Constance Belle Mare Plage, La Citronnelle, now meets this international standard of reference, since January 20th.
The Constance Hotels & Resorts hotel had been selected following a call for applications, launched in 2021 by Business Mauritius as part of its SigneNatir initiative, an environmental and social pact through which companies commit to accelerate their ecological transition, and to adopt the principles of the circular and solidarity economy.
The PLEDGE™ is a prevention standard designed to reduce food waste, save on costs and highlight the efforts of participants. An audit takes place to assess the level of compliance of restaurants with the label. The auditor evaluates, among other things, the establishment’s policy on food waste, the best practices implemented in this sense, the training of employees, as well as their food waste reduction system.
Constance Lemuria, one of the group’s hotels in the Seychelles, has also been selected to work with LightBlue Consulting, the firm responsible for auditing for The PLEDGE certification, following a call for applications, launched for the Indian Ocean in December 2021.
