According to our sources, the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron will receive his Malagasy counterpart Andry Rajoelina this Friday, August 27 in Paris.
The Malagasy President was the guest of honor at the Meeting of French-speaking Entrepreneurs (REF) held at the Hippodrome de Longchamp in Paris on August 24 and 25. Accompanied by 4 ministers, 44 business leaders and economic operators, Andry Rajoelina called on the French-speaking world for solidarity and economic complementarity. During the Meetings, gathering nearly 400 personalities from the public and private spheres, Andry R. Rajoelina declared that “the French-speaking space constituted an ideal platform of cooperation to take up together the great challenges of the century”, and called “to concentrate and exchange to manifest more collectively the solidarity and the economic complementarity, following the example of the Commonwealth and the ASEAN”.
Medef and Elysée on the agenda
During the week, Andry Rajoelina multiplies meetings through interviews with institutional and employer personalities. He met with French employers on August 22 with Momar Nguer, President of the Africa Committee of Medef International and Patrick Martin, Deputy President of the MEDEF, as well as with Belgian and Moroccan employers, particularly in the fields of agribusiness (Desobry and Diana Holding, Azura), energy (Taqa Morocco), construction (SGTM), engineering (John Cockerill) or the circular economy (aSmartWorld). Madagascar plans to accelerate the development of the economy by attracting investors in large infrastructure projects. (Ecofin). Regarding the meeting between the two presidents (who have already met on May 29, 2019 during an official trip of the Malagasy head of state in France), the economic development of the Big Island will obviously be on the agenda.
