It is in relative discretion that the Indian Ocean Sports Temple opened its doors this December.
Relative discretion because its size and ambitions could have given rise to ostentatious inaugurations in others.
Not on the side of Rémy Mabillon, promoter of this pharaonic project who is nevertheless delighted with good attendance from the first days of opening despite the lack of communication. A sign that the need was there, as the market studies had already indicated.
This center dedicated to multisport is located on the edge of the Forbach expressway in the north of the country, 5 minutes from Grand Baie, on nearly one hectare of which 6000m² is covered.
It required € 6 million in investments and was able to generate around 30 direct jobs from its opening.
Equipped with the latest technologies, it is possible for example to spend a few seconds in front of a dedicated scanner to know your muscle or bone balance. The coach can then quickly intervene where the body needs it most. Virtual games such as the golf simulator or state-of-the-art weight training equipment such as gravity training are all new equipment never seen before in the country.
“More than a sports center: a place of life”
This is the first Country Club on the island bringing together several activities under one roof including squash, padel, two five-foot fields, fitness, as well as an outdoor jorky ball field (2-on-2 football ), an outdoor omnisport field also dedicated to foot five, basketball and handball, as well as a wide choice of racket sports: three squash courts (one of which is glazed), two badminton courts, two paddle tennis courts …
We also note a climbing wall 6 meters high and 18 meters long with routes of different levels and a floor space of over 300 m2 to accommodate activities such as rhythmic gymnastics, karate, dance, pilates. , yoga… A heated swimming pool is planned for 2021.
The center is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and has a fully secure play area for young children.
